I really wanted a very warm jacket and this fits the bill. My son is the 30th percentile for height and a very skinny kid. I needed to get one size smaller because he was kind of on the borderline. The jacket has room to grow. It's a little wide so will have to put something thick underneath. It would've been good if it had a drawstring or a cuff inside to stop the wind going up because of the loose fit.

This would have been a great jacket for my son except for two problems. The main problem is that the sleeves were so short that the jacket was unwearable -- they were so short that even long-ish mittens did not help. We've never had this problem with other jackets. The second problem, much more minor, was that the black fabric seems to pick up (and show) lint and pet fur very easily. Had to return this jacket.

Coat is durable and warm. Good performance and good deal for around the low one hundreds Sierra Trading Post price. But, both the sleeve and jacket length run small. My 13 year old son currently wears a 14 in another brand and we initially ordered XL, which Marmot claims is 13-15...no way!! We had to exchange for 2XL, which fit much better.

My son is a very skinny short 13yr old. I bought this coat in xl thinking it may fit a little big so it would last, but it didn't fit. The sleeves were way to short, and the jacket was short also.... waiting for the 2xl to come #weirdfit

bought this for my 7 year old son. Even though he typically wears a 8-10, this coat (listed as a med) is too big for him this year. As with all Marmot products, this thing is well put together, using quality materials. It will take some 'breaking in' as the exterior material is very stiff.
