My brothers both wanted the same vest when they saw mine. Because of the down, it also packs well and takes up very little space in a bag or backpack. It's going to be my go-to outer layer for the mild California climate.

Vest, jeans and t-shirt and I'm comfortable lounging or hiking ... add it over my windshirt and I can easily withstand frosty mornings. This vest can be packed into its own pocket, useful as a small pillow for camping.

Reviewed by Monkey from Somewhere, WA on Tuesday, March 23, 2010I already had the Zeus Jacket (i.e. with arms, bought elsewhere) from the beginning of the season (2009-10 winter). This item is great for the price. I had been using another down vest until a couple of weeks ago. That one was perhaps 500 fill - much thicker, not nearly as soft and "noisy". This one has the same warmth at half the weight. Softness makes it conform to the body nicely. Durability-vise, I haven't had issues with this one or with the Zeus jacket (previously mentioned), but the shell does appear to be thin and could possibly be easily ripped/cut. I do try to take extra care in that regard.
