I've fished this rod (6wt) for over 4 years. I've never been a huge fan of the Martin name, however this rod is a step above. I've landed 500+ fish on this rod and can honestly say it cant be beat for the price. The warranty is top notch. Martin is owned by "zebco" who is one of the biggest companies around. The first time I slammed it in the door I sent it back; new rod. The second time a nest of ants ate their way into the handle and destroyed it; new rod. The only downfall of this rod is weight in my opinion. Its a bit heavy. I would personally like to see a little faster tip action, but that is preferance..... You'll really love it for the money. -tight lines

The first thing I noticed was how similar this rod was to my fly rod costing 3 times as much, the martin casts just about as well and has a very nice hook keeper, every time I use it it casts very far over a hundred feet and with accuracy, roll casts are no problem for this unit, I really like the forest green finish and rod tube that comes with this rod, you would have to spend at least $300 or more to get better preformance than this Martin, so if you are on a budget this is the rod for you alot of prefomance for a small price. Actually I own several Martins that I purchased when I first started fly fishing and discovered how good they really are, I now have several high end fly rods but I still really like my Martin, great value you just can't go wrong.

First time out it worked like a champ. Handled 22 inch trout without a problem. Casts well and seems to be a good value for the dollar.

I was really happy when I received the rod. It was a great price and while I was a little nervous about the made in China thing and the "you get what you pay for" rule, I discovered that it was nicely finished, light, responsive and had lots of casting strength. The reel seat is beautiful and the rod tube it came in would withstand about anything.
