I initially bought one of these in the blue/teal color. I loved it so much I just had to have another one in the navy/pink color as well - and I *never* buy two different colors of the same item for myself.
The material is a brushed cotton, but an especially soft one. It's essentially flannel, but not a thick, heavy, cold-weather-only flannel. It has a dense weave, and thus should be durable in addition to being soft, but it is not thick at all. This material should be good for everything except summers, but that's because I live in Texas; in places with more mild summers, it should still be fine.
The cut is great too, although it is smaller than what most people will be used to these days. It's definitely a "classic"/European cut. Meaning if you're used to more modern brands, size up. I'm 5'6", 170 pounds, and the medium is just right for me - slightly tight in the chest, but my chest is rather broad compared to the rest of me.
From the moment I tried on this shirt, Mason's Cotton became one of my favorite brands. And a HUGE plus - made in Italy!!!

I have a number of Mason's shirts and pants, some better than the others in terms of overall fit and quality... But all of them are well made and eye-catching. This shirt is in the middle - a Large but just a tad snug. I'm just under 5 feet ten inches and weigh about 180. If you don't a Mason's shirt or pants, you won't regret buying one, especially at the price offered at STP.

Outstanding, densely woven, cotton shirt. Excellent tailoring. This is a well made (in Italy as opposed to China..,) casual shirt that I anticipate lasting a long time. One comment I'm fairly thin, 5'8" and the Medium shirt fits well, a little loose which I like

The product description did not describe this shirt as flannel which is how I would describe the fabric. But do not think "clunky, heavy flannel". Instead it is a light weight flannel that is soft to the touch but not so bulky that it looks out of place at work. I have several Mason shirt that I have bought from STP. They are a little pricey but the quality of the fabrics and fit are first rate. The fabrics speak for themselves, but the fit might not be so obvious from the catalog. I would describe the fit as European. It is a fairly trim fit -- there is not a lot of extra fabric in either girth or length. That makes them comfortable and flattering on me and they fit very well under a sports jacket.
