In the chill midwest, underlayers are de riguer from fall through spring and I've owned all the well-known brands in merino wool and polyester and these Medima angora/merino blend garments are truly exceptional. The quality of the material is luxurious due to the high angora content while the wool p... Read More

I bought these for my husband and he loves them. He frequently works outside in fairly cold temps and they are keeping him warm while being very lightweight. He is 6'2" and I ordered a large, they fit well.

Hasn't been cold enough to try out but the quality looks excellent. Lighter weight, as the title indicates, but not super thin. You can barely see light transmitting through them when held up to a window and I expect them to be perfect for extra layer of warmth. I will circle back and update my review once field tested.

I purchased these for cold windy california winters at temps around low 50s upper 40s during day.. They are warm enouph for this but i beleive too thin to do the job in anything colder.. I would definatly look for something thicker.. They ar light weight and feel really nice against my skin.. My girlfriend felt them and instantly wanted a pair.. Only itched the first few hours of wearing them until i started sweating in them doing strenuous activities and it went away.. I havent had a problem since.. I even sleep in them with no problems.. I bought a size up from the reviews and everyone is correct they do fit tight.. Im 5'6" 175lbs and the large fit like a glove.. They have elastic stretch waist and cuffs which contour to your body size even if they are a size bigger.. Buy them you wont be disapointed!!

So sweet and soft. Slight scratchiness initially, but it goes away with washing and a bit of wear. These are a special treat!

This is my first time wearing an angora garment, and I would highly recommend it. At this price-point with monthly discounts, I feel comfortable saying that Sierra Trading Post is the best place to purchase this item. As for Medima, they have given the pure Merino companies a run for their money. Cheers!

    • Answer I wasn't aware of any problems until your question. I did look on youtube and noticed that many videos were done by caring people that obviously do care about their animals. I grew up on a farm and realize that farmers vary in how they treat their animals.
I have not checked into who Medima purchases their angora from, if they care about such matters.... Have you?

My comments were for other buyers regarding the quality of the items Medima made and that STP sells. I was not commenting on the ethics of Medima.

    • Answer Thank you for your reply. In answer to whether or not I know where Medina sources their Angora, no I do not--that is what I have been trying to find out. Not their specific source, since I of course do not know which specific farmers adhere to which practices, but whether or not someone somewhere down the line does have such knowledge and can guarantee that they are using cruelty free sources. There is a translation of Medina's response under the Medina underwear tops. It seems that their buying policies do exclude at least the worst possible scenarios.

    • Answer This is where Medima gets there Angora from, a company in Germany called "Naturfasern" "Caregora" which supposedly adheres to rather strict animal welfare standards.
      http://angora-rabbits.de/english/caregora/what-is-the-meaning.html

""Update on the Angora Wool Market: Last year we reported on how a video depicting screaming Angora rabbits being plucked for their fur almost destroyed the market for Angora products as leading retailers removed all products from their shelves. Targeted were the Chinese suppliers of the fur. European suppliers have stepped up and taken advantage of what they claim is more responsible harvesting of the rabbit fur. Chief among them is German supplier Naturfasern who claim to supply products in full compliance with European animal welfare standards, and have created a standard for the fur, Caregora. This is a prime example of an extremely narrow social/ethics issue giving rise to a very specific standard.""

It appears as though and as usual the Chinese suppliers are the problem as they are utterly ruthless in their treatment of all animals.

The Germans however are exactly the opposite.
