I had to send these back because they had a loose fit on my feet and the majority of the bottom of the soles was some kind of foam, not rubber. I had concerns over the longevity of these since I would be using them as my everyday walking around shoes. My experience with shoes where the soles is anything but high quality rubber tells me that I'd be regretting paying for these in the short term. Best thing I can say about them is they are really light, but that is due to the heavy use of foam on the shoe.

I bought these to replace my Brooks pureConnect minimals. They are a very different feel than the Brooks; less cushion. The Merrell shoe has a much wider toe box (than most standard shoes.) I like them with and without socks. I tried them on in a Merrell outlet ($30 more than STP!) and found that I wore 1/2 size smaller than most other shoes. Great purchase!

is as described; was a little wide for my somewhat narrow feet; to adjust to barefoot running takes a while!

I have been wearing these since they first came out. The reason these are on STP is because Merrell released the new Bare Access line with a longer lasting bottom. I took the one star off because I did have an issue with the vibram peeling off under the big toe. Merrell addressed the problem and fixed the shoes immediately. Great customer service! With that said I love these shoes and wear them to work almost every day. I am on my feet on concrete floors for 8 hr shifts. I have no knee, back, ankle, foot pain like I did when I wore padded shoes. Yes my feet are fatigued, but not in pain. These shoes weigh next to nothing, are very breathable and look awesome. I have been stopped by people who ask me what shoes I am wearing! I have the blue pair. Awesome casual shoe for fall, summer and fall. Be warned, they are lower to the ground than your normal padded shoe, your jeans may drag on the floor.

Shoe fits perfectly. Lightweight. Durable so far. Cushion thickness is decent, but feels best running on grass or other natural surface.

  • Question “I am a woman but don't like the Bare Access Arc. Is there a Bare Access for women, or can I wear a men's shoe? Is there a difference?”
Asked on 4/5/2013 5:42:08 PM by Jas the runner from Maine
    • Answer We just have the Bare Access Arc (#4831J) for women. Men's shoes are usually wider than women's shoes, especially in the heel.
