I have a somewhat narrow low-volume foot with long toes. I'm a consistent size 8, and these felt too long when I tried them on barefoot. Even the modest arch support, which it does have, felt more forward. With my bare arch centered on the arch support I had gap behind my heel as well as some room in front of my big toe. A medium+-weight sock kept them the fit from feeling sloppy, but then there's too much cushion to provide a truly "barefoot" feel that for me is the point of this boot design. While a sock made the fit cushy and comfortable, I'd like to wear them with a ski sock liner, and so will try a 7.5 (half-size down). I hope that won't make them too restrictive in the forefoot width. I've been a barefoot/minimalist jogger for 2 years now. So from the barefooting perspective: at first impression, the sole felt a tad stiff for a true barefoot feel but it does flex. Forefoot striking feels fairly natural in this boot. The heel may even be slightly dropped, but not too much so and that would assist the forefoot strike. I admit I was hoping to go for 1-2 mile winter runs in this boot; maybe with the 1/2-size down this might work but I doubt the fit will be glove-like enough to make it a true barefoot running boot. Looking forward to wearing them casually and perhaps to work (indoors)during whatever colder days we have left this year. At first glance they are maybe a little reminiscent of Napoleon Dynamite's "sweet moonboots" because of the lightly insulated boot shaft but they actually are more sleek and fitted. I like 'em.

I love my Merrell barefoot shoes and had expected that these boots would be the same. Unfortunately, they are too tight across the toes. Maybe a bigger size would fix the problem, I am sending them back.

I bought these for a recent trip to Colorado since we were heading somewhere I couldn't wear my flip flops. They are cute boots. I wouldn't say the most stylish but if you had more style I think you would lose practicality. I wore them to travel in on the airplane and they were very comfortable. They say they are barefoot shoes but I wore them with a very thin hiking sock. They were a little loose and if I had the time or if I thought about it when I ordered I may have ordered a size down just to see the difference. But if I had sized down I don't think I could wear a sock. So chose how you would like to wear them.
