Awesome shoes allowing me to run with a barefoot feel and less pain at the end of the run. I am sold on these and will be using them all the time. Five mile run was a blast!

I bought these because of the discounted price. I run 6.5 miles on a paved road so I was a little skeptical of how comfortable they would be. Overall they are a light shoe with a nice arch, although I'm not sure they do anything extra for my stride. I have noticed my heels don't take the pounding I thought they would with the barefoot design. I think these were a good purchase at the discounted rate, but I don't think I would pay $100.00 for them.

I wore out the previous version of the road glove which felt slightly smaller than sz 13. These are true to sz 13 and performing well, as described.

These are the best-fitting shoes I've ever owned. They are countoured perfectly to my feet, have a very wide toe box, and essentially no padding. The soles grip extremely well and provide good traction on a variety of surfaces. The materials are heavy-duty yet pliable and the shoes feel great on the trail or road. Highly recommended.

I have never been a runner. Every time I tried to like running, the achy feet, knees, hips and back convinced me that I was just not built to run. (I'm 6'5" and have size 15 flat feet/pretty severe pronation.) I had the most supportive Brooks runners I could get, but it just wasn't working out. After my doctor told me I needed to lose 10 pounds (which I already knew from the way my knees were starting to hurt just from normal activity,) I decided to give running one more try. A coworker suggested the Merrells, so I gave them a shot. It took about a week (and some REALLY sore calves) to adapt to the barefoot running style, but after that it has been full speed ahead! I run on turf, and the only limits on my runs now are my endurance or my attention span. But my feet, my knees, my hips and my back don't bother me at all anymore. I don't limp around when I get out of bed anymore, and I often run on multiple successive days -- which used to be unthinkable. These shoes (which are not suitable for everyday wear because of the absence of cushion, but are made for running) have truly revolutionized the running experience and turned my life around.

I purchased the Road Gloves about a year ago after spending some time in a pair of Nike Air shoes. I had some concerns about the minimalist construction but I tried on the Merrells and they fit like ... well, gloves. From my first run in these shoes, I knew I had found something special. You can imagine my disappointment when I left my favorite shoes on the locker room floor at the gym. Evidently, the guy who found them wears a 9-1/2 because the shoes never made it to the lost-and-found. When I got online to search for the Road Glove, I of course found that it had been replaced. While I'm the new model is comparable, I could not find a color that I liked. My wife suggested I try Sierra Trading Post. Lo and behold! There they were, in the same color and size! But the big bonus was I got them for half the price of my original pair. I am a short-distance runner -- a long run for me is anything over 2 miles. So I can't speak to the benefits of minimalist shoes for you crazy marathon people. However, I can tell you these Road Gloves are among the comfortable shoes I haver ever owned -- that goes for ALL shoes, whether that be dress shoes, athletic shoes, casual shoes. I have had absolutely no pain in my feet or legs after my runs. I am now investigating the entire Barefoot line to see if there is something I can wear at work. For this sale price, I honestly don't think you can find a better deal on a running shoe.

Let's be clear. These shoes will reveal compensations made in foot-strike pattern and stride from having worn conventional running shoes. One has to be willing to improve to a more natural running form. With a long-term commitment to being an overall better runner and willing to come to terms with, most likely, multiple deviations from ones own potential for a more natural running style these minimalist shoes lead the way. These shoes are like wearing an orthotics device in reverse. That is instead of covering up a problematic and perhaps painful area I am instead discovering postural and movement compensations and directly addressing them in ways to gain an overall healthy and authentic running style. I've successfully extended runs to over 15 miles and am continually discovering weak points in my style and then finding ways to become a more efficient runner. For races I still plan to use a more cushioned shoe. I'd like to do more speed work in the minimalist type before trying a race in them.
