I expected these shoes to be "light hikers" but they turned out to be rather tough, significant hiking boots, well made and comfortable. Yet they have the cool styling that makes me want to wear them all the time.I don't think I could ever wear them out! I checked reviews before so I knew the sizing was a little small unless you like your shoes very snug. I like the full size larger fit.

I bought these for a 3 week trip to New Zealand, and wore them just about every day while hiking, light mountain climbing, and walking around town. The footbed is very supportive with good arch support, and the shoe is generally comfortable. It took a few serious hikes to wear in fully, since the materials are so durable. My feet stayed dry in quite rainy weather. And after all the abuse I put them through, they still look like new!

As a landscaper in the wet Pacific Northwest, and with beginner bunions, my boots get put to the test. I've not worn these long enough to assess durability (though past Merrell's have done so with flying colors). In every other way, I am sure I've got the right boot. And, for the fashion conscious, as a bonus, with the touch of blue, these look especially good with jeans! Just make sure to get a half size larger, particularly if you wear heavy socks.

I am a biologist and hike year-round as part of my job. I always buy hiking boots a half size bigger than my shoe size, but that still felt too tight, so I ended up getting a full size larger. The first time I wore them was about 5 hours of snowshoeing with no problems...except they are not waterproof, only water resistant. I am going to try to waterproof them myself. Also, they don't have great traction on ice, but what boots do?

These are great shoes, lots of support, warm and seem to have good traction. I only wore them one day, however, and ended up returning them. Not because the shoe fit wrong, but because I couldn't handle the stiffness. I am recovering from a broken heel bone, and by the end of the day I was limping badly. I would recommend these for a person without any foot injuries. Just not for me at this time.

The first day I wore these boots I spent all day doing light hiking and walking around with family. They never missed a beat and were great for all the different activities of the day.
I have narrower feet and finding boots (let alone Merrells)that don't require 2 socks has been difficult. Problem solved with these boots. They a have a lower heel to reduce calf strain and excellent ankle support.

I will use these boots to snow shoe in the winter. I will also use them to hike in. They are new and a little stiff, so I plan to break them in on some short hikes first.
