This is my 3rd pair and they are wonderful for our wet and cold weather. Wear socks with them and they are even great in the snow. I will buy more because they are my go to shoes for most of the year.

  • Question “Can the footbed be removed? Won't it need to be "freshened up" from time to time?”

Asked on 8/8/2010 12:00:00 AM by CJ from Virginia
    • Answer Yes the footbed can be removed. I have rinsed them and let them air dry and have had no problems.
Answered on 8/12/2010 12:00:00 AM by Montana girl from Bozeman, MT
    • Answer Hi CJ - You'll be pleased to know that the sheepskin footbed IS removable!
Answered on 10/11/2010 12:00:00 AM by Crazy Cowgirl from Santa Fe, NM
    • Answer yes the footbed consists of a thin top layer which can be removed and I think it can be washed; have not tried. It is fabric so I would just put it in a mesh and wash cold cycle and leave out to dry.

  • Question “Why is the footbed removable, is it washable? What's the best way to clean them?”

Asked on 8/5/2010 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer Insoles are often removable for the use of other insoles that a person may want, such as their orthotics. They do not have washing instructions as the generally are not meant to be washed, but if you really wanted to I'm sure you could hand wash and dry them, but it would mat down the lining.

    • Answer These state to run true to size. I would order an 8 and the lining will pack down.

    • Answer Yes, the shoe is true to size. My foot is 10.5 inches (womens), and I always find it necessary to purchase size 11 (womens) shoes. I find that a size 10 is too tight. It is sometimes difficult to find a 10.5 sized shoe. I hope that this helps!

    • Answer I wear a women's 8 and often get boots in a 9... this is my third pair of the Merrell Encores and I've gotten a perfect fit from an 8. Maybe you tried on an irregular before? Regardless, when you get the right fit, you will be thrilled-- these are great, comfy, warm shoes.

    • Answer I wear an 8 medium in Women's and I find these very comfortable. I always buy the same size in Merrells (and I own dozens of pairs...sandals, clogs, boots, etc) in lots of colors and styles. Some fit slightly tighter than others, but all work for me. I make adjustments with heavier, thinner or no socks when appropriate. With Chill Slides and Chill Clogs, you have a thick, furry lining, so I find them comfortable without socks in almost all high mountain temperatures. I hope this is helpful to you. Enjoy!
