I have a very wide foot. The toe bed on these shoes is rounded and wide an accomodates my feet perfectly. They are very flexible, have a bit of arch support and when tied snuggly they provide fair to good lateral support. Experiment w/how you tie them because the arch support really improves as does the stability. I've only worn these walking, not running. They are good in dry or rainy weather, cling to rocks and bolders w/o slippage at all. The soles on these are Vibram, so I'm anticipating that they will wear well The mesh-like material on the uppers breathes so my feet haven't felt clammy, sweaty, and hot even after hours of wear on hot days. They are also good on the beach-keep the sand out. They are very comfortable but be prepared to have tired legs at first. They "walk" more like Earth shoes. The heels aren't negetive, but because they have no bulky cushioning at the heel like regular running shoes they feel very flat, and almost negetive at the heel. They are so lightweight it's almost like not wearing shoes at all. Looking forward to taking these hiking so I have someting else to wear at the end of a long day on the trail.
