Merrell Trance Jacket - Waterproof Soft Shell (For Men)

I had bought this jacket formyhusband, and after wering it in different weather conditions the same remark was given, it just doesn't holdthe warmth in. Otherwise a very stylish jacket forwind and rain protection and, forwarmth recommend another warm baselayer.

Excellent pullover for the money. Sleek, simple design. Feels true to size and a bit on the lean side. Rubbery fabric is waterproof but the tradeoff is that it's not breathable so I tend to wear it in colder weather so I don't sweat. Also, it only has a single, small, zip pocket on the sleeve. It's a handy pocket but another would be helpful. Overall, a good garment.

I'm planning some cold weather adventures with this jacket, but will be layering up underneath. I've worn it under my mesh motorcycle jacket in 35 degree weather on the interstate, it proved effective at blocking the wind. I have taken bike rides in downpours on the way to school and when I arrive I take off my jacket and am dry from the neck down to where the jacket stopped. I need to get some pants and shoes for wet weather and I will be set. I have taken this on one weekend backpacking trip, the jacket still looks fairly clean even though I did some rock climbing and definitely got some mud, rain, and dirt on it at times. I have not had to wash it yet. Seems durable. I kind of wish it had a hood. I am 5'11" and 145 lbs. Medium is a perfect fit, with enough room to layer some underneath. Merrell can do more than shoes.

This Jacket is an almost perfect representation of a soft shell jacket. The fit and finish on this jacket is outstanding and well worth the price. From the left breast pocket, that allows acess with a backpack on. To the reinforced elbows and shoulders, the longer sleeves for use with gloves and activities that force you to strech your arms. Merril got it right with this jacket.

I played tennis in this once and had hoped to ski in it later, but was disappointed that it didn't breathe well. Without pit zips I could never ski in it. Other than that I like it, it's well made, blocks the wind, looks good and fits well except seeming a little too tight under the arms.

This is a daily wear coat for me, house to car,car to office.
