Very cute boots. They are true to size, wide enough and long enough for hiking socks. They have lots of toe room which makes for a comfortable boot. They could use a little more cushion and there is room to put an insert in if your socks aren't too thick. Since they are not waterproof I will waterproof them myself. The ankles are a little stiff but they will get softer with wear. The "gators that come with are ridiculous are will go in the trash or in the donation bag.

I was looking for a pair of boots like these to wear with jeans in the winter. After reading the reviews about size issues I still ordered my regular size (8) because I wasn't sure about the fit. Turns out that the 8 was too big in length. I was also surprised that the toe box wasn't as roomy as described. I don't have fat feet but have had foot surgery that requires some height by the big toe. Anyway, I reordered the 7 1/2 which was the correct size lengthwise but now I had toe volume issues (not enough). I was pretty surprised because lots of reviewers said that had plenty of room by the toes etc. That was the ultimate reason I had to return them. The other is that the black leather is so stiff I couldn't imagine it ever breaking them in. By the way the laces are really long and detract from the overall appearance after you tie them.

These boots were comfortable from the moment I put them on, which is good news because shopping for shoes on-line can sometimes be iffy. The boots however, are not nearly as substantial as I thought they would be, especially given the high cost! They seem more like a fashion boot than one made for years of hiking, which is what I was really looking for. I guess time will tell. The soles are not vibram (they weren't advertised to be) but the tread is shallower than it appears in the photos. I think I just paid for a brand not a boot. P.S. I don't think most buyers are terribly interested in what the lining looks like (modern colorful).

For a couple of years now I've been looking for a casual/hiking boot in the classic style with stitched on sole and lacing, with the technical features of a good hiking boot. I dislike the current hi-tech hiking boots with the chunky flat sole that curves up at the front and fussy design that just look like men's joggers. I also wanted a slight heel, so you get a better grip and can wear them for horseriding and other sports. These are just what I wanted. out of the box they are even more good looking and the leather is excellent quality. What a great feature, the removable padded gaiters! These are really attractive boots, so nice to find something feminine. I note in the little leaflet they are described as "vintage"! I am a vintage loving gal, I only realised recently that the designs that I am always naturally drawn to are in fact, now considered vintage or retro! I love classic designs that are flattering and practical. I hope to take these boots on a ski trip as my après-boots. This will be a good test of their insulation and water proofing. Oh yes they are true to size for my 6.5b foot. That is both US and Australian sizing.
