No, I would not recommend this to a friend
My other Mezlans (made in Spain) are much better quality than these Nigels (made in Brazil), but they are also more than twice the price of the Nigels. Some problems I've had after a few weeks of wearing:
A sign poor quality manufacturing - the gap between the two sides of lace-up over the tongue is 1/3 inch wider on one shoe. This is not my foot, as all my good quality shoes do up with an identical gap.
The insole on one of the shoes has bunched up a little (but in arch of foot so not a big problem). Not a terrific shoe for narrow feet - the heal is a little loose. But overall reasonable for a narrow foot. I order a whole size down with office/dress shoes that have a pointed toe box, as my foot is narrow and the pointed tox box allows for a size down.
This shoe is OK for the money, but it's getting close to being not OK :)
