I always wear 11 1/2 shoes, even when the advice is to order a size up or down, 11 1/2's seem to always fit me well. Until these. Although I don't have a wide foot, these were really tight in the width. When I opened the box, my son was with me, who happens to wear a size 11, tried them on & they were even too tight in the width for him. I was disappointed because they really are a handsome, well made shoe. Back they went - I wish STP had bigger sizes available. My guess is that they need to be ordered a full size up and just forget them if you have a wide foot.

I am usually a 9, but I’ll go sockless with these so I went down one half size (counting on a bit of stretch). 8.5 is snug, as I expected, though not uncomfortably so. If anything, they are slightly narrow, but because these are mocs, they will form to most feet without too much effort. By the end of the summer, I expect they will be perfect.
Stitching is clean and even. The calfskin looks great and sets these apart from inferior shoes. The orange lining is a nice touch, out of which discerning admirers might get a kick. I like it. Though the sole is rubber, they still report enough of a ‘clip clop’ for those who like to hear themselves walking down the hall.
I am very happy with these. I love that they are made in Western Europe. They are a simple and understated but the quality and attention to detail is easy to see. Obviously, these are not four-season shoes. The sole-less stretch of leather under the arch presents a potential area of fragility, but as long as one plans ahead and knows where he is wearing these, all will be well.
On a related note:
A couple years ago, I bought a very similar pair of Lloyd Elian (made in Italy) shoes from STP (http://www.sierratradingpost.com/lloyd-shoes-elian-loafer-shoes-leather-for-men~p~3863m/?ItemCode=3863M-02-7&searchTerm=3863M-02-7). Great looking shoes and comfortable, but inferior leather (I believe it is goat) and very fragile. Though similar in look and construction, these Mezlans are superior in every way.
