    No, I would not recommend this to a friend
    This is not a soft shell like I've had in the past. It's more of a fleece jacket, with some softshell on the shoulders. Fleece is a huge lint catcher along with any stray pet fur, sawdust etc. Tight in the shoulders, but too long in the arms...and quite puffy in the midsection, strange fit.

    Tested recently in a very brisk early morning wind during an Eastern Washington birding trip near a wind farm. Passed the wind test. Also repels light rain. Did have a sizing issue and had to exchange large for XL to get a comfortable fit. Almost returned the XL too due to sleeve length but extra length is okay when reaching so a fair trade-off for a quality jacket at STP coupon price.
