    No, I would not recommend this to a friend
    I bought these pants for extended back-country skiing and camping and I am disappointed. The description of these pants on the website I found misleading; these are single layer Gore-Tex pants, the material is very thin in the upper part of the pants, and I would not trust them in extreme weather. The lower legs are reinforced with more burly material and the gaiters are nice, but the lack of protection in the upper pants make these tough rain pants, but not very useful in extreme weather. The description needs to let customers know these are single layer pants. I do like the fit of the pants (even though the waist is smaller than other brands) but they are not what I was looking for.

    I have had a pair of these and was looking to purchase a pair for a friend of mine and was shocked to see a 2-star review. The person above who wrote the scathing review of these pants did not do her homework. The Gore-Tex Pro Shell is a 3-layer (3-ply might be a more appropriate description) bombproof, windproof, waterproof and extremely durable material meant to be worn as an outer shell over warmer base layers. These pants are incredibly well built. It is not a '3-in-1' pant, which is what the 2-star review thought!!

    Bought these as a gift for my wife. They are really well-made backcountry ski pants with a lot of nice features: articulated knees, great side-leg vent zips, nice powder cuffs, reinforcements in all the right places, and triple-layer Gore-Tex. Unfortunately, the sizing seems to be WAY OFF. I ordered the equivalent of a Small (women's 4-6) and they are more like a XXS Women's 0-2. She couldn't get them anywhere near on. May try to exchange them, but sizes very limited now. Hate to return them, they are really well-built overall, and a great STP price.
