Trail shoes are great on the trails. Zero break-in time. Now wearing in NY for morning runs. Feeling pavement through the sole. 5* at what they were designed for. Not so all-around.

I require additional support/cushioning in my lower front foot area. Unfortunately, these shoes do not allow this comfort and I suffer sharp pains after walking for 60 minutes. Some shoes work just fine and others do not, and it is impossible to know before trying them! My daughter wears these same shoes and loves them; so obviously one style shoe doesn't fil all!

These shoes fit my orthotics really well, and the stability can't be beat. Too bad Montrail is changing the design for the new Hardrocks. Hope they come up with something equally as great!

The arch support might be a little high, but I am making do with it. The shoe feels very sturdy and I have never felt unsupported in any type of terrain.

I use one pair of shoes and these are the best for everything...hiking or running trails, working, walking home, gardening, hitting the inner-city sidewalks...no break-in, just wear them and they stay supportive for many months.

Good trail shoe: I've have these for the past 4 months and I've taken them on 25 mile runs on the Bull Run Trail near Mananssas, VA and used them last weekend on the JKF 50 Miler ultramarathon. They have held up well, no problems with footing in rocky trails, they have a great firm sole to help support your foot, and the toe cap is pretty firm in case you stub into a rock or root. My only complaint is that the side trim is starting to peel off, but that's a secondary issue for a shoe I got for hard trail running.

These trail shoes are a great light weight alternative to hiking boots on rocky trails. The firm mid sole provides good protection from sharp rocks and the outer sole provides good traction on rocks even when wet. The extremely stable footbed makes you less likely to roll an ankle than with other sneaker type hiking shoes.
