Good shoe when they are new for steep sport and bouldering. Rubber on these is very sticky. They Stretch. After they stretch alot and became super comfy, I found them to be excellent long route and crack shoes. At this price they are a steal.

My very-picky son said they hurt too much over the instep, but my not-so-picky son said he loves them; can't wait to grow into them.

I use these shoes for all my climbing. When I first got them they were extremely tight, but broke in after awile to the point of being a little loose. You have to be sure to point your toe away when heel hooking, because your heel can pop out of the shoe. This is where a velcro strap would come in handy. I probably wouldn't recommend them for long climbs, because they do get uncomfortable after awhile. I normally just deal with it though. I've notice with my other Montrail shoes that the rubber seems to wear quickly. This may only be with the more aggressive shoes, but they stick very well on tiny holds, and fit into cracks nicely. I might go away from Montrail just to see what else is out there, but I've been happy with these shoes. They just started to wear through.

I had to send these back since they did not appear true to size and I bought a size too big. They were teeny, tiny and I could barely get my foot in. Not the time for Cinderella. I really wanted them to fit but even the suggestion to size them wouldn't have worked. I am disappointed but will keep looking.

Have only used this sport climbing & top rope in the gym. Have been very pleased with this shoe, particularly edging. It does not run large, got my normal size shoe and it fits slightly tight but good for climbing. Excellent price!

If they have your size get it, even if the size is one smaller than you usually get, get it. Since you can mold the shoe, it helps you get use to the smaller size. Once you break them in, your SOLID!

I picked up a pair of these shoes after hearing that they fit wider feet well. After about a year of use, I am glad to say that they've held up fairly well. I sized down one size from my street shoe and found that this gave me a great fit. Rather uncomfortably tight at first, but after a few sessions they broke in. I didn't pop them in the oven as suggested, but rather let the thermomoldable foam conform over time. I primarily use these on steep/overhung climbs; they're great for heel and toe hooking as well as toeing in/pulling in with your feet. I haven't encountered the heel looseness that one of the other reviewers did, maybe we have different heel shapes/depths? My only real complaint is that the rubber isn't as durable as some from other companies (la sportiva & 5.10). Also, they aren't my favorite shoe for vertical/edging climbs (dime edges etc...). The rand on my pair bulged out over the edge of the shoe, making edging a bit more difficult but still possible. All in all though, for the price of them these are a solid buy, especially if you have a wider forefoot and like the steep stuff.

Amazing fit - equal pressure against entire foot. Focuses lift on big toe. Very sensitive rubber around balls of feet and toes, but a little too soft for my taste. It's probably not a fantastic shoe for most outdoor climbing since real rock wears away rubber pretty fast, but they seem to hold up well against indoor composite and polymer holds. Since it's a slipper, make sure you get a pretty small size! For an amazing fit, place them in an oven at 230 degrees for two minutes and then put them on your feet for at least ten minutes.

I bought two pairs of this shoe, one in a 42.5 and one in a 42. I found that after a couple of months in them they tended to come off during heal-hooks. When I dropped to the smaller pair I found the same problem after a few months, despite feeling incredibly tight, initially. You really can't take them off between problems because they are impossible to get back on while sweaty. The 42.5s also got a hole where the leather and rubber met, but no other quality problems. These are good for a wider foot, are good for toe hooks, and are great for crack climbing. The rubber is good but it doesn't wear down too quick.
