GREAT ON DRY ROCKS (GOOD SUPPORT), FAIR ON WET ROCKS (BETTER THAN MOST!), GREAT ANKLE SUPPORT, GORE-TEX IS GREAT (THIS BREATHES AND IS WATERPROOF), GOOD DIRT TRACTION. IT TAKES ABOUT 20 MILES TO REALLY BREAK IN BUT NOT BREAK IN IS NOT BAD. REALLY GOOD MEDIUM WEIGHT HIKER!!

These boots are great. I'm a wetland scientist, so I end up subjecting my shoes to some pretty harsh conditions. So far, these boots are holding up great.

Footwear is highly subjective on the demensions of one's own feet. However, If the Montrail Torre fits your feet after a reasonably short break-in, you will most likely be satisfied with this product. I average about 700 miles of Appalachian Trail per pair that I have owned. The stability of the heel cup is immediately evident even to one like me who tends to roll ankles. The durable soles spread body and pack weight evenly and does not batter my feet on rough terrain. Traction is very acceptable on steep slanting rock. It is not uncommon to see other AT hiker's wearing this boot and I must say that I have yet to hear one give the Torre anything but praise.
