Slips on wet rock, ice, logs, pretty much anything other then grass dirt or mud. The synthetic front has worn through where my toe creases and there is nothing keeping water from getting in seeing how the gortex lining has worn through as well. These shoes were a good for day hike on a trail, and around the city, except for ice. The sole is pretty stiff and unforgiving.

Great fit! I always have a hard time finding a boot narrow enough for my feet. These were perfect. i love wearing them in cool, wet weather, but they are comfortable enough for warmer temps as well. Great weekend hiker boots. Looking forward to many years with these great boots!

As others have stated the boots are narrow. I also found them to be stiff. They are boots that need to be broken in. I exchanged them for the Montrail Comp and ordered a half size larger.

I'm a const. framer. Primarily I use these for work boots. They're sturdy, waterproof enough for Oregon winters. Warm...I have good socks.I am very happy with these boots. The quality is very good. The first pair I bought from [...] on sale for [$] several years back. Getting them here for 60% off was a GREAT DEAL!!!

I have hiked almost a thousand in the Montrail Torre GTX. Pictures of the Traverse appeared to be a similar, but lighter boot. They in fact fit identically and seemingly have the same durable soles. The only noticable difference is the lighter weight.

These boots seem to be well constructed and made of high quality materials. After hiking about ten miles on rocky trails in Government Canyon (San Antonio, TX) I felt my feet were supported, protected from beneath and from ankle rolls. The ankle area fits snugly and is comfortable. These boots also were breathable. However, I orginally bought my usual size of 12 and noticed that my little toes were pinched on the sides. I ordered a 13, and even with a little more room in the toe box my little toes were still being pinched. I wish that I could keep these boots, but my forefoot seems a little too wide for these boots. I would definitely reccomend this boot if you have no larger than a medium width forefoot. These were not wet weather tested.
