Reviewed by MJDC from Wash, DC on Thursday, January 24, 2013This is a beautiful blanket BUT if you are thinking that it is a substitute for the Johnstons Utility Blankets, think again. This lacks the thickness, softness, and durability of the Johnstons. This is a very nice blanket, but it is much thinner and a bit more scratchy. It is still soft enough to cuddle up with though. It doesn't provide near the warm or weight of the Johnstons though.

He lived in England for a while and was enamored by the folks who would sit on their porches in all kinds of weather reading the paper with these throws on their laps. I know I needed something fairly authentic or it wouldn't work, but I think wool is scratchy and I was nervous that it would be too uncomfortable to be worthwhile. When it arrived I was SUPER impressed that it was so danged soft! But I was a little nervous that it was so thin, like almost as thin as wool fabric off the bolt. When my husband unwrapped it he was stoked! He said it was perfect and it was exactly like the ones he saw in England. WOOT!

Reviewed by Chloe from Connecticut on Friday, December 28, 2012We use these throws on the chairs by the fire on cold nights. They are a perfect weight, not heavy, and they are soft wool. These throws hold their shape, don't wrinkle and have a beautiful color combination. I love them so much I got one in another color to use as a bed scarf, and to curl up under and read. Truly beautiful!

It's claimed to be the softest fabric one can get from a lamb but it's really not soft. I don't remember touching any lambswool before but the blanket feels rough if you just try running your fingers on it. The color is quite off and not as nice as it is in the photo. It leaves lint on stuff.

The first one I got years ago and didn't like very much because it was too thin and scratchy. Lured by the pretty colors as well as a coupon, I thought I'd try again and ordered this blanket in Maple. The colors are very nice indeed although the red is a tad too intense for my taste but all in all really nice. But again the blanket is too thin for me and not very soft. It is not a cheap-looking blanket but compared to the Johnstons of Elgin lambswool throws the Moon blankets/throws are a lot less appealing. I own several Johnstons of Elgin lambswool blankets, also bought here from STP, and any of those is thicker and softer than the two lambswool Moon blankets I got. So despite the nice color this one is going back and I will stick with Johnstons in the future even though I will say that the Moon colors are the prettier ones :-).
