My shorts are cotton not nylon, as description above indicates. That said, they worked fine on boat trips and short hikes on an Amazon cruise. I anticipate taking them on travel involving hiking in the future. Multiple pockets and closures very handy.

With a mesh liner, I can't see these being used for everyday wear. But each to their own!

    Great for multi-day backpacking trips.

I got these for Rock Climbing and for Bouldering. The shorts are great for Bouldering! Not so great for climbing (that requires rope, harness etc.) due to the lining in the shorts. They are super comfortable and the pockets are well designed also. The only thing I would say is don't shrink them when you wash/dry them because the waistband has gotten a little tighter. Not too bad though. I bought 2 pair so I would have and extra pair and do not regret it. I would definitely recommend these and if I needed more, i would get more of these!
