The Banshee is very well made and is capable of use without additional protection in moderately nasty weather. The zipper works well and doesn't tend to snag, unlike the smaller / lighter zippers on other MH models. It also has a good amount of room at the shoulders,

I got this and was quite pleased with the quality. With the deal flyer coupon it was an absolute steal. Zipper is nice, neck baffle is comfortable and the overall fill and feel seemed on par with a top level down bag. It is a little big and although it comes with a compression sack, it is never going to be a small bag to carry. But it is no bigger than most zero bags and lots smaller than synthetic bags that are anywhere close to zero rated.

The problem is, the bag has an athletic cut shape. The tag is marked performance mummy cut, which you expect for an expedition quality bag. However it is also clearly shaped for the younger slimmer guy that is more typical of the serious climber. I am an older less guy with a mature body and a bit of a belly. This bag just wont work for my body type.

I never used the bag, and can not comment on the cold weather rating other than to say in the house it felt like an oven on 325. Outdoors my guess is this bag is a surefire 10 degree bag for an average sleeper and I doubt a warm sleeper would need anything but a base layer at zero. Again this is a guess as I did not use this bag other than for a quick fit test.

If you are slim and want a bargain on a cold weather bag, I think this will fit the bill nicely and with the STP deal flyer pricing, it is a steal.

On the down side (exceuse the pun), it doesn't produce the advertised loft, is heavy for the temperture rating, and is capable to around 10F rather than 0.
Overall, while the retail price is rediculous, at the STP price it's a superb find if it meets your needs.

    • Answer The one I received did not.
Answered on 3/14/2014 2:05:56 PM by Jeff from Portland Or.
    • Answer It does not have the Dry Q or any type of water proof down, however it does have the newer technology shell. I have no doubt it will be a much better down bag than the non treated ones. I returned mine only because of fit issues. I am a plus sized fellow and this is an athletic cut bag. The quality and fill were excellent in my mind and it would have been a great bag. Just way too tight for me.

  • Question “What does size = LH mean for this sleeping bag? (Does L stand for long?). ”

    • Answer LH and RH for sleeping bags stands for Left Hand or Right Hand, indicating which side the zipper is on when you are in the bag.
