So this pack is a little weird, definitely get a few views of it before you buy it. The back flap loosely covers a big pocket thats good for quick access things like water bottles, etc. Its got a few weird stitched holders that look like pockets on line, but that arent sewn at the bottom so i'm not sure what they're for. The main pocket opens up from the back by the shoulder straps. its a nice size, definitely enough to hold all your gear for a long day, even enough to hold your gear for a night if youre going light. Also- the flap on the back has a minimalist endoskeleton which not only gives it some east-west rigidity, but also serves to keep anything from poking into your back.
Pretty light, waterproof, sealed seam for the top electronics pocket, overall great pack.

Bought this pack for my wife specifically for snowshoeing and mountaineering.
PROS: The layout and design are about 90% perfect: There are ample ways to carry snowshoes, ice axe, trekking poles, and skis if needed. the big flap on the outside can be tucked inside the compression straps to carry her snowshoes vertically on the back. Under the flap is an open stuff-it pocket, perfect for quickly ditching or retrieving layers, gloves, etc. Light weight, perfect size for winter day hikes where we carry a good bit of gear.
CONS: The pockets on the waist-belt could be slightly larger, her point and shoot camera barely fits. Could use dedicated hardware loops for carabiners, but the ski loops are usable. There is no dedicated hydration pocket, so the bladder is just loose in the bag. There could be a little more frame/rigidity to the back panel.
The only better winter pack is the osprey switch 40+5, but it isnt made any more
