Can use in moderate cold, or layering under a shell. Lightweight, well designed for the task.

This is a great jacket for layering under your ski shell, packing for a hiking trip, having an extra layer for mounaineering or just keeping around for a cool winters night. It's not at all water proof and the shell fabric is very thin, but that's what makes it so light weight. Over all it's a great jacket and I'm very happy with it.

I was looking for a compressible warm coat for snowhoeing and winter hiking. This one is primaloft which I'm hoping will wash easier than down. It's amazingly warm for the weight and very comfortable to wear. Pitt zips would make it perfect as I'm a little concerned of being too warm. Regardless, this is a permanent addition to my winter backpack.

Wanted another one of these. Also own a Patagonia Micropuff. The MH Compressor is a better design and has better features. Keep in mind this is not to keep wind and moisture out, it's insulation. So if it's wet or windy it needs a shell over it. Also it's probably not going to withstand rough treatment. If you're bushwacking for example, it needs something to protect it. I bought a size larger so I can put it over other clothing like when I'm stopping for a rest or under other garments like my shell when I'm going to keep it on.

I got this jkt as a compromise between the weight and bulk of a down jkt rather than settling for just a vest. I use the Compressor in temps down to the teens recently on a Fall backpack in the high Sierra. It prooved to be just thething and will now be my insulation layer in the summer also. It is light, reasonably wind resistent, and packs super easy. Not thinking it will last long though as it is very lightly built. Seems like a quality product regardless and did exaclty what I needed, kept me warm when things started freezing. The collar works well, the pockets are warm, and perhaps the thing I liked most was that it is easy on easy off, and can be stuffed just about anywhere in the pack. And believe me, I had this thing on and off many times night and day over a two week period. I also used it at my car camp under a wool pendelton which was almost too much. On two exceptionally cold nights I actually crawled back into my sleeping bag with it on, fell asleep and never felt uncomfotable. A very nice piece of gear.

This is a great jacket. It is very warm and yet i can still unzip it when the air gets warmer. It has 2 large hand pockets with some fleece in them and a large inside pocket big enough to hold you wallet and ipod. Put pit zips and it is the best jacket ever!!

stylish, lightweight, warm, repels wind and wet weather-these are all the good qualities to this jacket. i took this jacket with me traveling through british columbia. also this jacket is a steal for the price, plus i got an additional discount. the only drawback is when the jacket is fully zipped up-the zipper gets caught up at the chin and is hard to pull down.

trimmer fit. The torso is a bit on the shorter side than other Mountain Hardwear jackets but other than that, the usual high quality gear from MH.
