Nice jacket. I'm 5'10" 190 and the Large is about right. The jacket is good looking, doesn't look too much like a ski jacket to wear to work or on the streets. Pockets are deep and pit zips are always nice.

Insulation is a good amount. It was -10 yesterday and as long as all the zips were closed, I... Read More

I ended up getting the XL just because that's all that was left. Fit is really good. Very warm and the XL leaves me some room for layering. A bit on the heavy side but that doesn't bother me. Great value on STP.

Great all around jacket, feels like a small comforter on. Much heavier than a normal softshell, but still lighter than a full coat. I had nothing but a long sleeve t-shirt on and this jacket at Keystone this week and the temps were in the teen sin the morning.

With the pitt zips you could wear this year round on the mountains. The only downside is the two way zipper which makes it hard to zip sometimes.

Overall it's the best ski jacket I've every owned.

An excellent technical softshell. Surprisingly light. Trim fit. Low profile insulation. And super warm.

I wanted a mid weight jacket and this fits the bill perfectly

    • Answer You would something thinner for a running jacket.
Answered on 1/27/2011 12:00:00 AM by Customer Care from Sierra Trading Post
    • Answer Jacket is thinner than my old mountain hardware jacket which used primaloft. Jacket does have pitzips to vent. I only have a base layer on with this jacket and I stay warm. Jacket is not bulky at all.

    • Answer This jacket is a bit heavy for runing. It may not breathe enough for highly aerobic activities like running. Your best bet is to layer a wicking base layer then a mid layer like a polar fleece qarter zip then a wind water layer overtop. This layer can be soft-shell,hardshell or wind shell. As long as it breathes. If your too warm remove the mid layer. I like polartec power dry for base layers and polartec power stretch for mid layer but lots of companies make great materials.

    • Answer Probably not a good running jacket, a tad too heavy. You might want to look at a lighter weight ( sub 1.5 lb. ) soft shell with pit zips. Hope that helps.

    • Answer Yes, this jacket would probably be too bulky and warm for running unless you are doing it chasing polar bears in the arctic. I'd go with an uninsulated jacket for running.
