Drystein is the most technically advanced, but also good looking and feel comfortable jacket from MH PERIOD!
Tested in Killington VT on Dec 30. The most brutal, freezing, windy, weather I've experienced. On lift - no wind penetration, ski down - no sweat. Feels like watching your own movie. Before I... Read More

Have had this for only a few weeks. so far, so good. Its a nice product. Agree that the Zipper is stiff hoping that doesn't become an issue as the years pile on. Great price as well.

this jacket is the bomb, roomy enough for layers, has ample stretch, breaths out the air making it almost chilly, zippers waterproof but easy to zip - as with most waterproof zippers u cross pull them...right arm left zipper ... duh. day after i got it took to the mtns for 6 hours in constant oregon rain it beaded like i just rain x ed my windshield, worked up a good sweat on the climb but the jacket really did breath, i might have to move to a med weight wool and adjust my layers as i use it because it offers very little warmth - because it's a dry shell that really works. colours are bright but visibility is a good thing. I thought the mtn hardwear stretch down jacket was killer, now i can wear it under this shell and not worry about it getting wet. down in idaho sure, but down in oregon luv it!
even with the extra discount the coat was [...] expensive, I'm out daily so my day will never be ruined by rain - i got that going for me

I have looked at ten different shells before deciding to keep this jacket. It is the lightest and most comfortable shell I have found that has a high breathability rating and is comfortable. It doesn't have that hard shell feel although it is totally waterproof. Also, the inner surface is softer than other shells I have tried so it doesn't feel hard or clammy on my skin. The fit is relaxed although trim enough not be boxy-- a nice compromise. I love the design and the easy to use pockets on the outside as well as within to hold an iphone. Great jacket with all the discounts, great price.

Well, the jacket isn't cheap, and that's even after Sierra's exceptional discount. The fit is good, about par with other Mountain Hardwear jackets. I ordered a large and I'm 6ft to 6'1, weighing around 185-190 if that helps anyone. I could put a light sweater on under it, but haven't needed to yet. Seems to be a great jacket so far!

    • Answer This is not 3 in 1 compatible with an inner zipper.
Answered on 12/27/2013 10:08:57 AM by Product Specialist Greg from Sierra Trading Post
    • Answer No, it doesn't. This one is designed as a more top line minimalist shell so it has few extras to save on weight. That said, it is a great jacket and I wear fleeces, vests, even the MHW Zonal Down under it with no problems.
Answered on 12/27/2013 10:30:28 AM by Ephblum from Amherst, NY
    • Answer This is only a shell and does not have an inner zipper to add a fleece. I'm not aware of any MH jackets with a zip in option. These brands usually advertise layering as the way to go when it's too cold for the outer layer you have. I know Columbia has jackets with zip in liners but my experience has been that brand is not truly waterproof. They have added some new technology to their jackets the last few years so they'd be worth looking into. Best wishes

    • Answer Im not a 100% sure on inner zipper for a liner, i know it is designed to fit other Mountain Harder liners or insulated jackets like MH Ghost very well, but I dont believe it has a inner zipper set up.

    • Answer No this does not have the inner zipper. I'm not aware of another MH Dry.Q Elite jacket that has this feature. I use separate insulated jacket inside this jacket and it works fine. I actually prefer it to the zippered solution.

    • Answer This is a 2012 model.
Answered on 12/10/2013 2:03:26 PM by Product Specialist Greg from Sierra Trading Post
    • Answer I am not sure what you are asking but i believe the jacket i ordered was a 2012 maybe 2013 model. It is a great jacket as a shell for hiking but I personally am a bit rough on my gear and snowboard in some deep snow with trees and rocks and what not - and I felt the material (although very breathable and waterproof) was a bit delicate. What year did Mountain Hardware make tougher gear, I could not tell you, but I found Spyder makes good stuff.
