A Great Fall Jacket

When I was buying this jacket, I was looking for one that would get me through fall without freezing nor overheating that could double as colder-weather hiking gear for the Adirondacks in NY- this jacket does the trick. It's built to keep you warm in cold temperatures while hiking/adventuring (when you're ALSO creating your own heat)... it's light enough to breathe a bit, yet also keeps you warm. It's been perfect as a layer in the fall on my way to work- I would definitely recommend layering it with a hard shell on the outside, especially on those cold, rainy days. I haven't tried it out hiking yet, but I expect it to work well with the gear I already have, and it's so light I won't have to worry about extra weight.

I have seen reviews talking about how the material tears easy- I haven't found this to be the case. If you're watchful of sharp object (as you would be with any puffy) and put a layer over it, you should be ok.

Bottom line: It's not windproof nor should you expect it to singlehandedly keep you warm in freezing temperatures (unless you're highly active as well), but it's a great layer for both cold weather hiking, and casual days in the 40s/50s.
