Item is lightweight and also plenty of length in the sleeves which is important in cold weather. Fits snug in the armholes which is great for layering under something, but would be better mobility if armholes were a touch bigger. Too much bulk around the waist for my liking, but again, good if you are layering under. These aren't complaints, really, to me, it just makes the jacket that much more versatile. It is a jacket you can (and I do) wear every single day. I wear it for comfort and I wear it fly fishing and skiing. It breathes nicely and blocks the wind really well. It is great as a layer under goretex and I can say it is better than down because it will stay warm when wet, which is why I bought it.

Very warm and having 36-37in arm length, I usually experience short sleeves. The sleeves on the XL fit perfectly!

Reviewed by Roger from Nevada on Monday, January 07, 2013If you order this thinking you are getting a regular compressor jacket(I own two and rate them 5 stars)but with an added hood, you will be very disappointed. I wear a size medium in the regular compressor jacket but the hooded one I received in medium is a large and doesn't fit at all. Furthermore, it hangs like a wet towel with much less insulation than the non-hooded jacket. I thought something was wrong and called customer service to complain and inquire. I was told the hooded jacket is the same as the non-hooded jacket, only with an added hood. I pressed the agent and he looked it up and found he didn't know what he was talking about, and admitted it. The non-hooded jacket has 120 grams of insulation, but the hooded jacket has only 100 grams of insulation and some of that is distributed in the added hood making the jacket even thinner. He had no explanation for the over-sizing, but said it shouldn't be so. Mountain Hardwear either doesn't know what the supplier is doing, or the company is nickle and diming the customer on this jacket which I suspect is the case. Even at the STP discounted price with a discount coupon this jacket is way over-priced, and virtually useless in my opinion. MN messed with a really good product and made it so bad it isn't worth buying at any price in my opinion. I returned mine.
