The real negative was the shipping. The box was not wrapped or covered. It was visible as a Mountain Hardware tent, and it was left on my front porch. In a busy suburb, this is not a good thing. At least wrap the box in plain paper before shipping.

I am pleased with this tent. I have set it up twice (once in the house) and used it once in the backyard with my kids. It is easy to set up and seems very sturdy. Can't wait to get it out on a backpacking trip soon.

None of the reviewers mentioned the problem with the center clip, so I bought the tent and when I tried to set it up, I could not close the top clip. I tried for 10 minutes and gave up. I am returning this tent.

I have been car camping, backbacking, and mountaineering for over 20 years. My go to tent has been a North Face VE-25. I bought the VE-25 20 years ago and that tent is still going strong. I bought this tent because I'm going to be doing a week of summer camping this year and the 25 is NOT a summer tent. I recieved this tent yesterday and just finished setting it up in the back yard. Pros: 1) Lots of netting on all 4 walls. It should provide the ventilation I'm looking for this summer. 2) The price was very good. It was on sale and I got one of STP frequent extra discounts and free shipping. 3) It has lots of mesh storage both above the door and on the back wall of the tent. 4) The alumimum poles seem to be good quality. This is important. When poles fail it's a real problem. Cons: 1) The floor of my tent measured 95 x 70, not the 96 x 74 advertised. There is no way this is a 3 man tent. Not a huge deal for me as I didn't plan on sleeping 3 but it bugs me the floor is smaller than advertized. 2) It took quite a bit of fiddeling to get a tight pitch on tent and the fly just doesn't seem to line up right with canope and poles. 3) The side walls of the fly come very close to the canope along the bottom of the tent. I'm certain that when the temperature changes or it rains the fly will sag a little and touch the canope along the bottom. There are webbed loops along the bottome of the fly that will allow the fly to be guyed out to prevent this. I'm going to get some cord and do this as it should also improve ventialtion under thee fly. 4) The plastic hardware on the corners and guy out points is a source of worry for me. I have seen plastic parts on tents fail many times. The plastic on this tent is replaceable but that doesn't do you much good in the field. I think I will order some spare plastic parts and keep on hand. 5) The floor is not a bathtub design floor. Yes the seams are sealed but over time factory sealed seams usually crack. When that happens this tent will get wet. 6) I also bought a footprint for the tent. Tent floors are usually the first thing to wear out and a footprint is a must in my opinion. There isn't a good way to attach this footprint to the tent floor and just leave it there. For the price I'll keep the tent and give it a try. I guess I just expected a little bit more from Mountain Hardware.
