Mountain Hardwear Mesa Pants - Convertible (For Men)

Can't beat them for backpacking/hiking for all day comfort. But beware, there is no extra room if you are on the top side of the waist size.

Although I haven't had them on any long hiking trips, these pants seem to be very durable and well made and should last me a long time.

I bought these after seeing them at a local retailer. I had the benefit of trying them on first before purchasing them. I typically wear a 34 waist at 32 long. I purchased the large, and they fit just fine. The cinch around the boot cuff needed to be tightened a bit to make up for the long size of the large. I wore these pants in the Great Smoky Mountains on the AT in 50-60 degree weather and they were very comfortable. They blocked the wind but were able to breathe, which made the day hike very enjoyable. I also really like the zipper around the shorts. In the past I have owned convertible pants that have had a bulky and uncomfortable zipper which would leave marks on my legs if I was supporting any kind of weight, with these you don't even notice it is there. I would have already purchased another pair, but they were no longer available. When they come around again I will definitely purchase them.

I went on a 40 mile Backpacking trip just days after recieving these pants in the mail and they lived up to their name. Although it rained 4 out of the 5 days on the trip these pants dried fast and were very comfortable even damp.

I used these for my first-ever hike to the top of Mt. St. Helens. We took the winter route, which meant a loooong steep walk up the face, but some nice long glissades down the face. The convertible pants were very helpful in the partly sunny then rainy conditions. They dry remarkably fast and didn't so so much a a scuff after the glissades. The only downside is the fit. Most adventure gear is sized differently than regular clothes - more specifically, legs/butt are too snug. I had to go to an XL so they would fit my legs/calves, but the waist has lots of room as a result. It works, but the belt gets out of place sometimes and feels funny. Great pants overall.

Long inseam has a good fit for a 6'5" guy.

Nice pants[...] Wore them during a visit to Yellowstone during the spring. With the cool/cold mornings and warm days they were the perfect choice. They pack great and wash up even better.

I love the shorts but with the legs attached they are a little too long. They weren't available in the right length for me. It seems like I should be able to roll them up without too much trouble, though.
