A bomber jacket; warm and thick but not confining, styling cut as outer layer, or excellent under a roomy softshell. Size L left a 42" chest room for a polypro and a zip-t under layers, but if you want to fit additional layers size up. Not that you'd need to - quite warm. Nice details (3 outer/2 inner zip pockets, neck drawstring, inner/outer cuff, well-tailored throughout). My only complaint was, the body was cut to the hips, too short for me, and at 6'3" 190 lbs. 34" waist, I was between an L and XL. "Motorcycle" cut and style is not a lie. Does not cover the butt or groin at all. If you're tall and skinny, or want better cover, look elsewhere. Otherwise, it's bomber. Another help with fit: I have a 21" back; size L was too short, size XL was long enough, but the cut was to roomy for my waist. Size XL requires a belly for good fit. Thus, my wife (5'11" 170 lbs short waist) loves her new L jacket!
Would be great for: Cool-weather hiking, warmup, winter sports, hunting, skiing for certain body types. Great windpro fabric.
Less great for: Climbing (too short), long-waisted folks.
