This jacket is a great light weight jacket that does what Mountain Hardwear says it will do --- block the wind. It does that job in a great manner. We tend to have some damp, cold, blustery days here in east tennessee. The body of the jacket does a great job of blocking this wind. The sleeves of this jacket are made of some sort of soft shell. The soft shell blocks the wind; but allows the arms to become cold due to conduction if ya dont wear a pretty good insulating layer under the jacket. I use a medium to heavy fleece or merino wool shirt. If ya do that; the jacket works very well down into the thirties or so. This is a great jacket; but it is a light weight jacket.

This jacket is great for backcountry skiing and general outdoors/camping. The pit zips are a plus, let you blow off steam as needed. I have not had any real complaints about the jacket, the quality is outstanding. I have read some reviews that complain about the sizing on Mt. Hardwear jackets; they are definitely cut tighter on the body and sleeves than some other companies. But for me the large fits great with plenty of range of motion. It will always be a matter of personal preference, and I like it cut a little tighter as it makes it easier for me to layer it under a shell.
