Verified Buyer Reviewed by Yogi Walker from Boston ma on Sunday, December 21, 2014I live on the coast in New England and am out everyday for hours in the cold this works as a great under coat base to my other coats in the really bad stuff .. like freezing rain and bitter below zero wind chills. If you are looking for light weight quick throw on coat for the cold this will work and it is of decent quality so i expect to have it for more than a few years
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Gov from helendale on Tuesday, April 29, 2014I just love my new down jacket. It's very lite & compresses into a very packable size. It seems to be made well, but it hasn't been tested yet. I think this jacket and my rain parka is all I'll need for summer backpacking.
Reviewed by Jay from Iowa on Friday, February 14, 2014I returned this product back. It seemed like a great jacket. It packed down to the size of a small Thermarest camping pillow and light. I'm 5'10' 160. I should definitely have gotten a medium. It was fine through the chest & shoulders but it was too big down toward the stomach & waist.
Reviewed by Blizz Mountain from Seattle on Tuesday, February 4, 2014I purchased the Nitrous down vest, and really liked it, so I purchased the Nitrous down jacket for when it's a bit colder and I want to keep my arms warm also. Definitely a top quality jacket that is great as a mid-layer under a shell for skiing, or you can wear it alone. The jacket packs very nicely into the hand warmer pocket, and can easily be stuffed into a backpack. It would even make a great pillow for camping when stuffed into it's pocket ! Both the jacket and vest are 'full cut' so if you are very slim, it may seem a bit baggy, however for me, it fits great. This is in some respects a minimalst jacket, as it does not have a chest pocket as many others do, there are times I would like the chest pocket (RFID ski pass, cell phone, etc), but on the other hand, not having the chest pocket makes it more comfortable, especially as a mid-layer, and more packable - so it's a trade-off. Some of the colors that Mountain Hardware uses are a bit bright, but it grows on you. I would highly recommend the Nitrous jacket - it's a very high quality, functional jacket.
Reviewed by KJPT from Midwest on Monday, January 6, 2014I bought this for my dad but he already had bought a coat. I liked it so much I tried to give it to another family member but they didn't need a coat either so unfortunately I am sending it back. It is really light..
Answer I think Mountain Hardwear jacket runs larger in general... I order XL and it was way too big for me. I am 6'1, 220, 36 waist. I returned mine for different jacket.
Answer According to my husband, this jacket runs true to size. He is 5-11, 215 lbs and he can usually wear a XL or XXL for items that run smaller or when he wants something looser. In this jacket he says that the XL is just right with not much extra room. He can wear it with a lightweight fleece and t-shirt underneath.
Answer I am revising my previous answer after further discussing with my husband. This jacket runs large. He thought I had bought a XXL when he said it was true to size, but I had actually bought him the XL.
Answer It is goose down. Sorry the fill weight is not available.
Answer It packs into its own pocket.
