Mountain Hardwear Paldor Jacket - Windstopper® Soft Shell (For Men)

Good looking and good fitting. Bought it off-season so not yet sure how it will perform.

Great for spring skiing or on those cooler days where you don't need much to take the nip out, but wore it on a day that started at 33 F, and was a bit too chilly for that, despite two thin layers. Too fitted to layer much under it. The shoulders have pilled up pretty quickly, but all in all a sharp looking and good wearing soft shell.

I haven't had a chance to use this jacket much. The biggest thing to consider before buying is the size. I normally buy jackets in size Large. After reading the reviews, I bought this jacket in an XL. I'm glad I did. At 5' 10", 200lbs the XL fits perfectly. As with most Mountain Hardwear the MSRP is grossly inflated. The STP price makes this jacket much more reasonable.

I am 5' 10" 200lbs and normally wear a size Large coat. After reading the reviews, I went with an XL on this coat. I am glad I did. The XL fits perfectly! If $250 is a true price for this coat, it isn't worth it. I got mine for [$], which is still pricey.

Use as a prekium giveaway

Really like this jacket. Particularly like the material. I live in Southern California and we've had mild weather this winter. This has been a nice jacket for day hikes with temps in the 50's. I've also worn it in a light rain with gusty winds and remained dry and warm. It is cut very short and feels a bit tight for the size--not much room to layer. I had the luxury of trying this on in a store before getting it here for a better price. The size I bought had the best sleeve length. The next size up fit better through the chest, but the sleeves were too long.

Get a size smaller than you would and hope the sleeves are long enough.

This is solid all-around. Soft, stretchy material with good construction. The fit is athletic; I am often between M and L, and I definitely needed the L in this one. Nice details like wind cuffs on the sleeve openings and a drawcord at the collar that help cut the wind. The Windstopper material makes the jacket warmer than its weight would suggest, while remaining breathable. One quirk: I like the harness-compatible pockets, but when unzipped they pooch out and the mid-section of the jacket loses its shape just a bit. Not a terminal flaw, but a little annoying.

This jacket can be worn in a variety of temperatures below 10 degrees C. It looks great and I will likely buy another color.
