Absolutely love these pants. They fit well for mountaineering and active winter sports. Would prefer a little more room in the crotch to allow for a base layer underneath, but oftentimes i just wear them as a single layer.

Even at the dramatically reduced price these pants are not as good my Marmot precip pants. The fit was poor, and the features seemed to be token features with little functionality. Zips partially up the leg are of very little use. Pocket zips, although waterproof, required two hands to open. Built in gaiters make no sense (as most people use stand alone gaiters) and were in the way. I returned them.

Pants were too narrow, both in the waist and the thighs. Especially the thighs. Assume the very lower end of the size range for the waist. Had to return them.

First of all I love Mountain Hardwear but was really shocked at the over all quality of this product and how well built it was!I wanted a pair for Christmas and my wife bought these for me and I love them.I will be using these pants on my first true mountaineering trips this year. If they hold up like all my MH gear I will have no problems.A great product all around!

  • Question “are these 2008 closeouts or 2009 closeouts? trying to determine if these have the added protection on the inside of the ankle for protection from crampons/ski cuts.”
Asked on 4/5/2010 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer These are the 2009 model #OM2717.
Answered on 4/5/2010 12:00:00 AM by Customer Care from Sierra Trading Post
    • Answer These were from the 2010 catalog. There is no extra padding that i can see but crapmons I cant see there being any problem. I hope this helps you.

  • Question “Does this product utilize the 3-layer conduit shell (is it waterproof?). I am hoping that this will hold up under wetter conditions as well.”
Asked on 3/7/2010 12:00:00 AM by D from Pittsburgh, PA
    • Answer These pants are water resistant, so in very wet conditions water will soak through after they become saturated. These pants have 2 kinds of 3-ply Conduit Fabric; one stretch and one regular.

  • Question “What is inseam for size M (32-34) ? My waist is 31 which size should I take ?”
Asked on 2/25/2010 12:00:00 AM by william from CA
    • Answer The inseam for a regular in this pant is 33". As a small is a 30" waist and a Medium is a 32-34" waist I would recommend going with a Medium so as to have room if you wish to layer underneath. Also there are belt loops that you would be able to use.
