I originally got this for my sister in law as a gift, but once I felt how solid it was built I had to get another one for my girlfriend too! I always test waterproof jackets before I take them outside by running water over them in the sink and it was super water proof. The reason why it's 5 Starz i... Read More

I purchased this jacket based on reviews of many saying it kept them dry. It failed miserably for me. Before I took the tags off I ran water on it and it rolled off, but I now realize this is not a good test. I should have put it on and stood in the shower. The first time I woreit hiking was in a light rain on a 5 hour hike. I had an icebreaker under layer so I thought that the light moisture was possibly moisture from perspiration. The second time I was in a harder, but not driven rain on a 3 mile hike and the jacket had as much water inside as it did outside. Awful experience. Very disappointed as according to the policy, it can not be returned. It is hard for me to reconcile my experience with the reviews.

I love this jacket superlight and breathable. It doesn't need to pit zips which makes it fit even better. Mountain hardware has always been a durable product and this jacket is no exception.

Nice cut. Trim. Soft feeling fabric. I chose a different coat in the end, but I almost got this one too because it is so good looking and crushes down pretty small.

I bought this jacket for an upcoming trip to India, so I have yet to try it in the rain. I love the lightweight feel of it, color, and the way it fits. So far I am very pleased with it. Shipping was quicker than I had anticipated.

Asked on 10/30/2015 5:50:54 AM by doggie mama from RI
    • Answer No, I really enjoy this jacket. I wore it while 4 wheeling this summer. It worked great for water proof and wind proof.

    • Answer I would have to say "yes", doggie mama. It certainly is not as quiet as a soft shell. And it is certainly not crepe paper. The lining is ok, seems like any major exertion will give you the sensation of perspiration build up. As a rain shell, at STP pricing, it was a great purchase for the amount of usage it will get in Phoenix, AZ. If I was pushing it more for aggressive outdoor activities, I would need pit zips to vent. My girlfriend is happy with it, but yeah. this material is not as quiet as a soft shell. Hope that helps.

    • Answer I wear this as a rain jacket, but I suppose what kind of shell are you looking for? performance in snow? then probably not. It's very light weight but great for the rain.
