I've worn it as a base layer with the fleece on the inside and smooth on the outside so that a windproof shell could slide over. It kept me warm and wicked away sweat very well. I've also worn it as the top layer with the fleece on the outside and the smooth on the inside to easily move over my base layers. I am about an 8, and the medium was fitted but not tight, so it was true to size.I love this pullover!
