Mountain Hardwear Rosaria Hoodie Shirt - Merino Wool, Long Sleeve (For Women)

Warm and fun. Love the stripes.

This shirt is soft and comfortable, and the merino wool makes it nice and lightweight. It washes well on gentle cycle and once it's dry looks great and is ready to go. I bought this in the charcoal and loved it so much bought another in purple. It looks nice with running tights or casual pants.

This is t-shirt weight fabric - similar in weight to the New Zealand merino company's 150-200 weight. It is slightly lower quality - there is a very very slight itch that you don't have with the other company's fabric. The softness improved with washing and there was no noticeable shrink when washed with the regular laundry and hung up to dry. At first I thought the hood was wacky - I like a hood that fits snugly around my face and stays there to keep my head warm and this hood looks huge. However, it is designed to snug around your face while draping around your neck. It stays in place nicely. The stripes are knitted in not printed on. I like it enough that I'm thinking of getting another in a different color.

The fit of this hoodie is quite snug, so after sending back my usual size small and trading for a medium, I am very happy with my purchase. I did wash it right out of the box after I realized it would fit, and it washes beautifully if you follow directions. The horizontal stripes don't appear to add to one's width at all, perhaps because they are all in the same range of color. I really like the hood, the way the material in front comes up like a cowl to help keep the neck warm. The material is both light and warm, though not too warm like fleece can get. I'm sure I'll get lots of use out of this, as it can go so many places in so many kinds of weather!

I really liked this until I washed it. It shrunk enough that it now feels too tight and too short and the fabric got itchier instead of softer. Does not come close to comparing to the two most well-known merino brands.
