This tent would be a bit small for three people, but works very well for two. Having a vestibule and door on each side makes it easy to get out with minimal disturbance to the other person. It holds up nicely to rain and wind, Set up is easy and it was light compared to the others we looked at. You ... Read More
Reviewed by KathiCville from Virginia on Wednesday, August 27, 2014I bought this tent about two months ago from STP when the price dipped substantially during a two-day sale. My last experience camping was more than thirty years ago, so I wanted a tent that promised to go together easily in the hands of one person. I was not disappointed! The first time took about a half hour, but now I can now pitch it in fewer than 10 minutes. After two "practice" nights in the backyard, I took the tent and my two dogs to a local national park for a night. The overnight temp dipped into the low 40s, but with the fly zipped shut, we were toasty inside the tent all night. (Having a down blanket certainly helped!) I'm glad I opted for a three-person model. I sleep on a 30" wide ALPS self-inflating pad that takes up half the floor space, but there's still plenty of room in the corners for my two pooches (40 lbs and 17 lbs). I'm very pleased with the tent and hope to get a lot of use out of it, with or without canines as companions.
Reviewed by Johny from Colorado on Sunday, June 8, 2014This tent has preformed wonderful in all weather conditions, however, some of the clips that clip the tent to the poles snapped at the ends(the clips are sewn onto the tent) so be careful with them if you decide to buy this tent.
Reviewed by Tsiu from Alaska on Wednesday, January 22, 2014I'm very pleased with this tent. As described, it is designed for backpacking, so the tent and rain fly are thin light weight material. The obvious compromise here is that you can't achieve burliness and light weight at the same time. Ask yourself what your primary intention will be for this tent. If it is backpacking, then this is an excellent choice. If it is car or boat-based camping, then you might want to consider a heavier but tougher tent.
This tent is very easy to set up; the rain fly is designed to fit nearly all the way to the ground, the tent seams are fully taped, there are adequate pockets in the interior, and the 2 side doors are large and easy to use.
Another note about this tent: this is an earlier model of the Skyledge, and it does not have the Dry Pitch (DP) features, and it does not come with a tent footprint (ground cloth). The current Skyledge sold through MH does have dry pitch and does come with a footprint.

Having a vestibule and door on each side makes it easy to get out with minimal disturbance to the other person. It holds up nicely to rain and wind, Set up is easy and it was light compared to the others we looked at. You can set up the rain fly first if it is raining and then set up the tent underneath. It was easy to fit the pieces back into the stuff sack. With only two people, there was room for our gear inside. Even though it is lightweight, it seems durable. Great value at STP. I can't wait to use it again before winter!
Reviewed by Dan M from Boise on Friday, July 26, 2013This is a great tent for TWO people. It is only 36 ft2. The Lightwedge 3 is 44 ft2 and the Lightwedge 2 is a35 ft2 tent. Other than the size issue the tent performed flawlessly. I believe this to be an error on Mountain Hardwear's part and STP was easy to work with on the return. The only reason for the return and the low rating is b/c of the size of the tent.
Answer These are last year's model and are not the current Dry Pitch version. The tent does not include a footprint. Item 5529R is the version wit a footprint.
