They have all the most important features -- such as conveniently placed pockets and discreet ankle zips -- but not so many that I would feel awkward wearing them to a restaurant. They are light enough for strenuous activities, and cozy up nicely for colder occasions with a baselayer underneath. When I got these, I ordered 5 pairs of softshell pants to see which I would like best, and these were the winners. I could easily wear them almost every day.
