Very lightweight. These are definatly a trim fit... if you are not looking for tights these are not for you. Tie at the waist works fine- most pants like this would have elastic! Nice product. Have used them many times for skate skiing with very lightweight longjohns and they were just right in 20F windy weather.

These pants are the most versatile pants I have ever encountered. Imagine your favorite windstopper jacket... but pants. Yeah, awesome. Don't expect them to be skin tight, because they were designed to wear layers beneath if you need. I can fit merino leggings under, happy chappy, and still have room. Plain and simple, if you're doing something in the outdoors, you need these pants. I hike, run (PERFECT for rainy days!), snowboard (under pants on cold days..), even exercised horses in these and the only problem I have is not having the funds for a backup pair.

I hike, run, kayak, ski and anything else that I can do outside. These are the best for under ski pants, rain pants, or shorts. They are very stylish. What a steal for the price. Love them.

Am using them for running, but could easily also use for cycling. I think they will also be great for sledding if I wear long underwear underneath. And that is one of the beauties - the ability to add another layer underneath if needed, but leave it off if it isn't too cold. I think it would be better if there was a spring-loaded gizmo to tighten the pants with, because tying them tightly enough to keep from falling down is hard. But I think that might just be my build - I have issues with most of my workout pants and shorts falling down somewhat. So I'm really glad that they have a tie to tighten in the first place, since elastic just doesn't cut it for me.

I run every morning unless it is below zero. This past week, I went out in 0, 1 and 2 degree weather. I wear these with a pair of lightweight fleece tights underneath and do not get cold or hot. Previously the fronts of my thighs would get unbearably cold so the windproof quality of these tights makes a HUGE difference. Mountain Hardware continues to impress me with quality and durability.
