I knew nothing about this product when I bought it for a week-long winter ski trip to Colorado. I wore these tights over my thermal underwear bottoms and under my ski pants, I did not have to add any additional or bulky pants, I was completely comfortable with no restricted movement, and I stayed completely warm and dry. I now also wear them under gym pants when riding my bicycle in winter at home, and I had bought a pair for my husband who now also wears them jogging and bicycling in winter at home. We highly recommend this product.

Wanted something a little warmer than my regular running tights but lighter/more agile than my ski pants to wear for hard core back country snowshoeing. I like the way they look, but no functional benefit over my regular running tights - only gortex in some limited areas - no warmer. Pants are big. I never wear small pants, and the mediums are too big. (5'5", 135). Unfortunately no smalls left. Also, no elastic in the waist makes it tough to get them to fit.

What it comes down to for me is that Windstopper fabric is AMAZING. It's so lightweight, but it really really does the job. That said, I find these tights to run somewhat large (seem to be designed for bigger thighs- that gives the jodphur look everyone mentions) and the fabric interior is itchy. I wear mine over another pair of tights. They're great that way as they really do block wind and keep you warm. I use these essentially as a lightweight softshell. Went xc skiing today with weather in the 30's and was almost too warm. Fell in the snow a few times (i'm learning) and these tights didn't absorb any moistue and kept me dry. I adore my windstopper jacket on my bike, and I assume these would be good on the bike too. The fit isn't ideal... They're high waisted and the waistband doens't stretch much. I'm 5'7" and 145 and the a size medium is a good fit, if almost a little big. Recommended for performance, but not for style.

I tried the Medium, then the Small, and now I'm hoping I can exchange for the XS. Really want to like them, but the M was definitely too big and even the S seemed to keep sliding down when walking. I want them for biking mostly, but was also hoping they'd be good for running, but that won't work if I have to keep pulling them up. I do usually take a 4 for MH so I should have ordered XS in the first place, I guess, I just have had a couple of their XS run too small on me lately, but in part I was reacting to the reviews that said they were constricting/ not stretchy enough, and too hard to put on/take off. I have to agree -- they are hard to pull on over the hips, because the waist doesn't stretch much, and they do have a little bit of "jodhpur" look, but they were GREAT on my 100-mile bike ride. It was cold, so I wore a pair of tights underneath them, and they were windproof and comfortable. I'm more into comfort than looks when I ride and run, and these tights served their purpose.

I use these pants for cycling. They're great in the chilly fall weather and in light rain. They are surprisingly warm but super breathable so that I don't end up sweaty at the end of a long ride. I've also worn them instead of long johns under pants for cool outdoor weather and they're comfortable all day long. If you're on the edge of sizes I would go with the larger one because they have a slim fit.

Usually Mountain Hardware's XS is a good fit for me, so I was very surprised that I cannot even put them on as a result of no stretch at the waist. I initially thought my bottom expanded overnight. The waist opening is only 26.5-27 inches for XS. As a waist measurement, this is in a normal range but in order to put them on, stretching or opening (e.g. zipper) is necessary to pass the hip.

In our house we have we have four pair of MH Transition Tights, each getting a lot of use. I love the tights for running in cooler or mildly wet weather and hiking in cool to cold weather. If the weather is in the in-between temp range I start off with the pants on like normal and as I warm up I roll the bottom of the tights up to just below my knees. The "roll" is flat and comfortably grips my leg keeping the "roll" height where I want it. I think the tights look good worn in the "capri" style as well. I am 5'3.5" and 130 pounds with a fairly athletic build. The medium size fits me very well. The tights do come a bit stiff but after two-to-three washes they are absolutely wonderful. Material used for the tights has great wind blocking qualities but can snag if caught on something prickly or sharp. I highly recommend this product, though if people keep not buying them I'll reap the benefit of getting yet another pair for an even lower price. :-)

While the fit is near perfect, the pant does not have enough stretch to allow for full range of movement when running.
