i use this jacket on rainy days when i am giving tours in a state park. it lives up to everything it claims, waterproof to a fault, lightweight, breathable etc. but very loud, it's hard to hear anything outside the rustle of this jacket. ok, if i am just out for a hike. but when i am trying to hear the question of a 5th grader over rain and the jacket - a little frustrating. but, it's goretex, whaddya gonna do?

This jacket is extremely lightweight. I can stuff it into my shoulder bag when not using a day pack. The pit zips are a must. The jacket is roomy enough to wear layers underneath. So far the jacket has performed well in the rain, I stay dry. One really nice addition is the fleece tab at the top of the zipper, soft against the skin, not scratchy.

this fabric has a much nicer feel than similarly priced competitors. the fit, for me (average athletic middle aged woman) is superior to almost all others on the market, especially through the shoulders and elbows--particularly when carrying a pack. i have long arms and appreciate sleeves that don't creep up when reaching. i only wish there were some outdoorsy neutral colors. i have the pale bluish--it's pretty but after 2 weeks of casual hiking is already showing dirt--and i've been trying to be careful! when in the backcountry trying not to get dirty is NOT something i want to think about. this jacket replaces a 7 year old mtn hardwear shell that i lost on a trip last fall. it was still in excellent condition and was worn year round and not babied.

I'm 5'4" and a size 8 (but with narrow shoulders) so I originally ordered a medium, but I was swimming in it. The sleeves were WAY too long and it just kind of hung awkwardly. I exchanged it for a small and it now fits perfectly! There's enough room for a fleece layer but it now looks more fitted. However, my 5'0" sister (size 10) also ordered a medium and she likes the way it fits. So I guess if you're borderline on the sizes, order down if you prefer it more fitted (or have a petite frame). As for the jacket itself, it is incredibly lightweight and really comfortable. It moves really well. I love it and would buy it again.

This jacket is just what it's billed as: lightweight, wind/waterproof, and with just the right features (pit zips, hood, pockets accessible with pack on) for backpacking or other times when weight is important. It's also very comfortable.

No complaints, I was hoping for a little more length in the back, but I'm 5'9" probably my own fault.

I landscape in wind and rain and the gor-tex waterproofing keeps me dry. I love it. It is also extremely lightweight which is also great.

Excellent weather protection. Pit zips work great, superb weather sealing on front.long enough to shed rain over hips. Hood is a tad big (I don't use helmet) and difficult to adjust--but it DOES keep you dry!

Pockets seem to be placed to high on jacket but probably will be fine if you are wearing a pack with a hip belt.

I liked this jacket for the price I paid. The sleeves are a bit long but the tabs on thesleeves adjust the sleeve length so it is fine. After purchasing this I saw the new MountainHardwear goretex jackets in a local retailstore and the new ones are definitely lighter. But I'm happy with the purchase for the price Ipaid.Only downsize - the 2 outside pockets seem abit high[...] I love Sierra Trading Post
