Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Reviewed by The Hiking Engineer from Indiana on Tuesday, April 16, 2013I bought this for my 9 year old son. He is 52 " tall. We set it up for him and I wasn't sure he was going to take it off, he liked it so much. It has great features, fit and construction. I evaluated many packs and concluded this was one of the top for him to choose from, he selected this and we couldn't be happier. He is ready to go and pushing to get out. One reason I chose this one is that he is at the small end of the scale for it so he should be able to use it for several years and will be able to go straight to a large pack from this one.
Reviewed by NY hiker PA from NY on Thursday, March 14, 2013I own a Kelty Pawnee 55L and Dakine Tactic 25 L, I have say Mountain Hardwear Wandrin is the most versatile bag I have. The suspension is great, the features are awesome, can't ask for more. Perfect size for lightweight backpacking.

“Is this a good choice for a 12 yr old scout who is not yet 5'? Uses would be overnight ears and some 3 night trips”
The capacity is a bit low for 3 night trips, one night trips it would be fine. He should get a pack in the 40 to 50 liter range for 3 night to 5 night trips. The information on this link may help. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/lp2/backpack-guide/
