“I bought this jacket to wear as a top layer when hiking in extreme conditions (climbing Mt Adams, Mt Rainier in Summer). It was warm and waterproof. The weight is like a heavy rain jacket, with the matt appearance of a soft shell. Lots of well placed pockets and pit zips that work great with a backpack. Jacket is very contoured around waist and roomy through Shoulders. It's a flattering cut, but may be a problem if you're heavy around the middle.”
