i laughed when the sack ripped the first time i put it in. heavy and does not compress well for backpacking but i bring it anyway because its so comfortable. The most comfortable synthetic bag i ever slept in. With some layers on i would probably trust it to about 20 deg F with no wind. the hood did not fit me well. Lots of great little touches. time will tell its duribility. so far around 10 nights total and looking good. For the money im very happy.

As stated, a relatively bulky bag so not best for backpacking nor I suspect zero degrees. However a spacious comfy wrap for less mobile situations. The provided sack is for tidy storage rather than stuffing. *Right* zip - not as listed.

I have never owned a more comfortable sleeping bag. First time I used it was in a snow cave I dug out; the first hour I spent inside it I was sweating pretty bad till I shed some layers. I would recommend this bag to anyone who likes to do fairly cold weather camping. Like a few others though my stuffsack busted before I could use it, and that was the only thing I disliked about this bag. If you buy this sleeping bag I would recommend being prepared to buy a better stuffsack. The stuffsack is poorly designed and built; if you're trying to compress it enough to do any backpacking with it, then it will probably break within the first few uses.

I learned in the Marine Corps, that comfort is important to me when not in combat and this bag is it, I use it to go to all my paintball events and when camping. Its the best; light weight, and extremely warm. The stuff sack has not given me any problems as with the other reviews. You just have to know how to pack things correctly, if something doesn't work right...don't force it, figure it out. -Semper Fi.

Like the pocket on the outside I put my flashlight in it. I store my night hat in the inside bag pocket. It has been one of the warmest bags I have used for the money. The stuff sack strap broke second trip out so I bought a better one.

I took the Kodiak into the San Juans for an early winter backpacking trip. EXCELLENT warmth. I never once got even the slightest bit chilly. My biggest complaint is the absolutely worthless stuff sack they sent with it. Only three compression straps (four should be a minimum!) and one of the straps ripped from the bag the first time I stuffed it (within an hour of getting the box in the mail.) Looking at the design, it was sewn poorly in a way that should have been obviously too weak. A friend sewed it for me, and in the middle of my trip, another strap broke. This is an awfully bulky bag to be stuck with in the middle of the San Juan Mountains without a compression bag!! For such an excellent sleeping bag, Mountainsmith should have included a decent stuff sack.
