I have another similar style bag that will accommodate my long 55-300 lens on the camera body and strap onto my chest. I love it however it is big and not great for every occasion. I picked up one of these thinking I could use it for those times when I only want a short lens on my hike. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to keep my short lens on the camera and also put the 55-300 in the bag next to it. I am able to keep the 55-300 on the camera and still put it in the bag but it is just a little too small to use it that way all the time. I can't just drop it in and go. It takes a little effort to squeeze it in with the long lens on but it can be made to fit. I really need both kinds of bags but can see I will likely use this one the most. Did a fairly strenuous seven mile trail with this yesterday and it was ultra comfortable. Did not feel like I was carrying a baby in a carrier like my other style. Always love Mountainsmith stuff and this bag is no exception. Glad I bought two, one for me and my wife.

this was 25% of the normal price, seems to be well made. is it larger than it looks, whether that is good or bad for your situation.
