If you are looking for a larger camera pack then this one is a winner, especially if you are a man or a larger woman. But for me, it didn't work. It is too large for what I want to carry (fixed lens Panasonic camera and some hiking equipment), but I could live with that. What made me return it is that the side tensioner straps, when pulled, cause the belt sides to curl. If you have a rather straight body style this would probably not occur but for a smaller woman's waist, it doesn't work. There are no small camera waist packs from which to choose to replace my old one so I am going to try a normal waist pack and see what padding I can add to give it more structure,.

I like Mountainsmith gear and own several types of their camera luggage. Well made, rugged, and useful.

This waist pack works great; it has two dividers inside so you can divide up the interior into vertical and/or horizontal sections. I use it with an Olympus O-MD E-M10 micro 4/3s camera with it's usual lens of 42mm, and carry a 300mm zoom. Both fit easily. and with the dividers I can store some filters and macro tubes beneath the camera. The outer pocket on the face has a hard shell, so it's good for bits that you don't want to get smashed. And you can sort of tuck away the waist straps as well. The outer pocket also compresses with straps against the body of the bag, making it very snug. And it has a space behind it so you could put something smallish and soft in there, and then compress it down.

The problem is that what makes this snug and tight and a good waist pack also makes it difficult to get a camera out quickly, although a very rectangular point and shoot without many external controls might not have so much difficulty. And it's not just the tightness of the pack if ithe waist belt and other tighteners are taut; it's that the top is a single slit zippered opening. So at worst it can be like trying to open a oyster. You may end up turning dials and flipping switches on your camera as it goes in and out. A rectangular opening would have been a better idea since it wouldn't pinch as much. See Mountainsmith's Zoom at STP for example; I own that and it's much faster for pulling out a camera.

Also, the shoulder strap you see is nice, since you can carry it over your shoulder. But the attachment straps should have been further apart to give a bit more stability.

Otherwise, it's awesome. I use it when I'm in a situation where I need to carry a bunch of stuff, including the camera, but won't be taking it out frequently. It's a much more stable and safe place for my camera than the shoulder carry like the Zoom (even though that's great, especially with the use of it's minimal waist band). When I need the camera out frequently I either just carry it over my neck or in the Zoom. And it must be said that although this is a camera-friendly wasit pack, it's a super waist pack for carrying just about anything else as well.

High quality bag with a nice waste belt., however, there are some issues in design. 1) The design of the top opening to the main bag makes it difficult to get a camera in and out of the bag. The top of the bag does not really come open enough. If you tend to keep your camera in your hands and only use the bag for transport along the trail, then it would probably be ok. However if you like to keep you camera in the bag and take a lot of pictures along the way, I would not recommend it. 2) The zipper on the 'hard shell' front pocket is very stiff requiring two hands and a concerted effort to get it open and closed. 3) When worn with the camera in front, there is a tendency for the top of the bag to fall away from you. There are adjustment straps to keep it in. However, you must loosen these to get the camera in our out of the bag. 4) Too bad about the flaws as the storage area for the camera is nice. Note there is a good review on You Tube. Wish I had paid more attention to the flaws. Returning.
