This is my second pair of Mountainsmith Trekking Poles. The one the poles on my first pair was finally so beaten up after about 7 years of regular/semi-regular use, just decided to get another pair. These are good, reliable poles, esp for the price. The only minor gripe I have is the anti-shock feature; I've always thought anti-shock to a superflous/gimmicky feature that adds unnecessary -albeit minor- complexity. When one of my poles was bent slightly, it stopped functioning and the pole became more problematic to extend/retract, but eventually that type of thing will happen. Overall, these are very good poles at a great price. For weight-weenies, they are also just a tad heavier than more expensive poles, but other

Read reviews on line about these poles and saw the STP had them. So far, for the money these have been great. The "snow caps" come off so you need to remember where you put them for future use.

Liked them so much I bought a 2nd pair for the hubby. Stupiid airport security wouldn't let me travel back from Rocky Mountain National Park with my previous Coleman Set. Had to leave them behind. This were bought as replacements. I like them better.

Haven't had them in the water yet, but I have adjusted them and given them a hard 'lean' test - very stable. As others have said, they aren't ultra lightweight, but that isn't a big concern for my purposes. Price is awesome.

Simply good trekking poles. I showed it to a friend who has hiked the AT and owns a couple of trekking poles and he was impressed at the quality. He was even more impressed when he found out how much i paid for it!
